Overview

See Moab’s Beauty on This UTV Adventure!

Discover Moab the way it was meant to be experienced — by exploring. The Moab Discovery Tour takes you through incredible desert terrain overlooking the Colorado River, past ancient rock art, dramatic layered cliffs, and one of the most striking hoodoos in the area. Along the way we stop to explore Moab's mysterious Catacomb Caves, where you’ll put on headlamps and step inside sandstone chambers carved by centuries of wind. We carry binoculars so you can spot distant formations, wildlife, and details in the landscape you might otherwise miss. And because you’re driving a fully enclosed Polaris Xpedition XP5 with heat and air conditioning, you won’t be eating dust from the vehicles ahead of you. You’ll return from the trail refreshed, comfortable, and ready for the rest of your day in Moab.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Moab Discovery Tour cost?

The Moab Discovery Tour costs $329 per vehicle for up to 5 riders, which works out to as little as $66 per person for a full group. The flat-rate price includes the fully-enclosed Polaris Xpedition XP5, a professional guide, helmets, headlamps, binoculars, bottled water, and trail snacks. Pricing is per vehicle rather than per person, so families and small groups split a single fee.

Is the Moab Discovery Tour kid-friendly?

Yes, the Moab Discovery Tour is the most kid-friendly guided UTV tour Epic 4x4 Adventures offers, with a minimum age of 5 years. The fully-enclosed Polaris Xpedition XP5 has air conditioning, heat, seat belts at every seat, and a sealed cab that keeps kids out of the sun and dust. The route uses scenic, light-technical terrain rather than extreme rock-crawling obstacles.

Is the Moab Discovery Tour good for grandparents and older adults?

Yes, the Moab Discovery Tour is well-suited to grandparents and older adults because the climate-controlled Polaris Xpedition XP5 cab eliminates sun, heat, and dust exposure. Riders sit on cushioned seats with seat belts, and the route avoids extreme obstacles in favor of scenic overlooks and short walking stops. Up to five family members ride together in one vehicle, making it a popular choice for multi-generational trips.

What makes the Moab Discovery Tour different from other Moab UTV tours?

The Moab Discovery Tour stands out for three reasons: a fully-enclosed climate-controlled Polaris Xpedition XP5, a curated route through petroglyphs and the Catacomb Caves rather than extreme rock-crawling trails, and small group sizes that feel closer to a private tour. Every guide has also completed Epic 4x4's 8-stage training program before leading guests on the trail.

What will I see on the Moab Discovery Tour?

The Moab Discovery Tour visits four signature stops: ancient petroglyph panels, the Catacomb Caves with headlamp exploration of wind-carved sandstone chambers, a striking standalone hoodoo formation, and panoramic overlooks above the Colorado River. The trail between stops follows scenic backcountry with sandy stretches, small rock features, and a short narrow shelf road. Guides carry binoculars to spot wildlife and distant geological detail along the way.

How long is the Moab Discovery Tour?

The Moab Discovery Tour runs four-plus hours from departure to return, including the trail ride, photo stops, time inside the Catacomb Caves, and short interpretive pauses at petroglyph panels. Departures leave from 1041 S. Main Street in Moab, and guests should arrive 15-20 minutes early for safety briefing and gear fitting.

Do I need off-road experience to drive the Moab Discovery Tour?

No off-road experience is required for the Moab Discovery Tour. The Polaris Xpedition XP5 drives much like an automatic SUV, and your guide handles a full pre-trip briefing before you leave the staging area. The route uses light-technical terrain that first-time UTV drivers handle confidently, and drivers must hold a valid driver's license and be at least 25 years old.

Is the Moab Discovery Tour dust-free and air-conditioned?

Yes, the Moab Discovery Tour is dust-free and air-conditioned because the Polaris Xpedition XP5 is a fully-enclosed cab with sealed doors, air conditioning, and heat. Riders avoid trail dust, summer heat, and cold-weather exposure that affect open-air UTVs. The climate-controlled cab makes the tour comfortable in every season the tour operates.

When is the best time of year to take a Moab UTV tour?

The best times for a Moab UTV tour are spring (March-May) and fall (September-November), when temperatures are mild and the desert scenery is at its most photogenic. The Moab Discovery Tour runs March through November and stays comfortable through summer thanks to the air-conditioned Polaris Xpedition XP5 cab. Weekends and school breaks book out first, so reservations a few weeks ahead are recommended.

Does the Moab Discovery Tour go inside Arches or Canyonlands National Park?

No, the Moab Discovery Tour does not enter Arches or Canyonlands National Park because UTVs are not permitted on national park trails. The route instead explores BLM-managed backcountry just outside the parks, with overlooks above the Colorado River and the surrounding canyon country. Many guests pair the Discovery Tour with a separate national park visit during the same trip.
